Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, the small rural town of Delight, Arkansas, was called Wolf Creek. Later, it became Delight because the residents thought it was "a delightful place to live." The owner and host, Penny Richards, agrees. It seemed natural to name her cabin after the town, which is featured in a series of five books written for the Harlequin Love Inspired Historical line set in Wolf Creek in the 1800s. Coincidentally, or maybe not, Wolf Creek is just across the road from the cabin. The space is a single cozy room with a full bath and mini kitchen area. Besides large book cover posters, the cabin is decorated with a blend of new and reclaimed/upcycled pieces that were collected over time, creating a unique blending of contemporary and vintage items. The bathtub is an oval watering trough, and the tub surround is reclaimed corrugated tin. The bathroom also boasts an oval sink, real rock countertop and a stained-glass window made from glass scraps picked up at a local trade days. The sleeping area has a queen-size bed with new coil/memory foam mattress, luggage rack and chest filled with games and books. There is no tv, but there is wireless internet and you are welcome to use it to download movies on your personal devices. A small window unit provides cooling in summer and an electric fireplace heats the room in winter. A front porch with a double rocker provides a place to sit and drink your morning coffee, weather permitting. Two antique folding chairs and a dropleaf table are easily accessed to provide meal seating for two. Plates, cups, flatware, and glasses are furnished as well as a K-cup coffeepot, small microwave and mini fridge hidden under the countertop. The host, a former B&B owner and caterer loves to cook and welcomes guests with home baked goodies. Breakfast is provided. (Please let her know if you have any allergies or dislikes.) Other goodies include homemade jams, jellies, breads and tomato juice, and a variety of snacks for those unexpected munchies! Copies of the Wolf Creek series and other books written by the host, as well as a cookbook that contains family favorites and popular recipes from her catering days are for sale, depending on availability. My country retreat is now available to share with you. Comfortable and attractive, it is located on a country road that has only 3 houses on it so you have plenty of privacy. To the north the view is a pine forest, to the south and east is pasture land. To the west you will see the house next door (mine also) that is undergoing remodel. It is about a 10 minute drive to the diamond mine in Murfreesboro. Lake Greeson is great for fishing and boating just outside of Murfreesboro. It is about 15 minutes to Wal Mart in Nashville. Many attractions are within a 1 hour drive from the house. Plenty of parking for your boat or RV on the property. No hook ups for an RV, however. Fenced back yard.
